Kautokeino
A body of works "Making Sense" is an
ongoing project Study trip to Kautokeino in the beginning of February 2014 was a starting
point. Reindeer herding, mineral extraction, rights to use commons,
capitalistic driven economy and traditional knowledge are the main elements
behind these installations. A conflict between stakeholders, nature and
Industry, and my inner conflict are spinning the main wheel of the project
"Making Sense". At the moment I am in Kautokeino preparing the last
peace of “Making Sense” Coming close to the end of the week, local people are
becoming curious about our works. Today I heard an interpretation of my work from a local sami man. I think he explained it even better then I would. Tomorrow is
an official opening of the exhibition. Looking forward to hear impressions
and critique. Kautokeino is cold, beautiful and wild. Love M.
